
THE atmosphere was electrifying, excitement was contagious as the crowd milled into the bowels of the Trinity House, Victoria Island, Lagos, venue of the event.
Organised to coincide with the religious activity of the Last Supper of Jesus Christ before his death and ascension to heaven during the recently celebrated Easter, this year’s edition of the ‘Laff Supper’, a comedy, dance and music fiesta lived up to it’s billing as one of the biggest entertainment events in the city of Lagos and across Nigeria.
DJ A-slide set the mood for the evening with inspirational songs which got the audience set for the full course of the ‘Supper’. The comperes, ND Talk and Ifeoma of Konga Fm took over and declared the event open with the introduction of the first artiste, Arite. Arite is a fast-rising singer and the recent winner of Africa Creative Market Next Level Award supported by the British Council. She is also took a shot at a Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon. She started off with the funkyfied version of the Nigerian national Anthem as well as serving the crowd with her own songs. Her outing earned her a long applause from the satisfied crowd.
MC Laz took over from where Arite stopped. A creative comedian, MC Laz, raised the pulse of the audience with his funny jokes that sent them reeling with laughter.
Just when the audience thought they may have had enough laughs and fun for the night, ATM and EfeWarriboy took turns to further crack them up with spontaneous jokes. EfeWarriboy is also an actor who stars in one of Nigeria’s best sitcoms, My Flatmates, produced by top Nigerian stand up comedian, Bright Okpocha aka Basket Mouth and late actor and show organiser, Kayode Peters aka Koko.
The introduction of Ekene Smith, younger brother of top comedian Emeka Smith, who is the host and convener of the comedy show titled Laff Supper With Ekene Smith & the 12 Disciples further raised the bar of the already charged night. Ekene Smith put up a good performance, his jokes were very relatable and family friendly. After Ekene Smith’s performance, Mc Shaggi and a fast-rising Nigerian musician named Liberty Vibes with some other up-and-coming comedians took turns on the stage.
‘Laff Supper With Ekene Smith & The 12 Disciples’ also had in attendance popular Nigerian comedians, Odogwu and Mc Abilitea. The comedy show was supported by Chen Holmes, one of the leading real estates companies in Nigeria, and Unilag Micro Finance Bank, a youth-driven financial organization supporting creative projects. The event was covered by STV, Konga TV, Unilag fm, Super fm and Konga fm.
