No doubt, Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun is surely the happiest man on earth with the euphoria that greeted his recently celebrated 60th birthday party. The governor may not have planned it so elaborate and glamorous as it was held but the political associates and aides who could not hide the joy of their master’s golden jubilee celebration hijacked the party day with fanfare and pageantry.
On the eve of birthday date, friends and well-wishers including staff gathered at the MITROS office at Ibara GRA to give the number one man in Ogun State a surprised party. Gist merchants who witnessed the owambe party said the cheaper and sophisticated wine that was paraded was the popular Carlo Rossi red wine while the VIPs were on champagne and host of foreign wines. In fact, gist merchants informed that, no single non-alcoholic drink was served while full roasted chicken was served with the exotic chilled wine.

The last may not have been heard about the celebrated 60th birthday of Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State as notable personalities stole shows with surprised birthday party. The governor had invited Islamic clerics to his palatial bulletproof mansion erected at Ibara GRA in Abeokuta to give God the glory for the good things in his life @60. Despite the fact that, it was a short Muslim prayer that was organized by the governor himself, no fewer than 120 Muslim leaders were present at the session. In fact, rumour mongers informed that, the least money a cleric carted away at the event was N20,000 while the senior Alfas went home with about N100,000 each. Majority of the governor’s inner caucus graced the occasion. Among those who attended the special prayer were his commissioners, the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, senators from Abuja, ministers, all council chairmen and councillors, foreign investors among others.
But the climax of the historic birthday party was held at night. An anonymous source within the governor’s convoy hinted that, former President Olusegun Obasanjo sneaked into the palatial bulletproof mansion of the Governor in the middle of the night with a notice that, the Governor needed to accompany him to somewhere, but surprisingly, the former President took the Governor to his OOPL Presidential Library where a special surprised party was organized by the former president himself. Governor Amosun who could not hide his joy, thanked the former president for this gesture.

Hope came the way of 60 inmates at the Nigerian prison, Ogun State as Governor Amosun ordered their release as part of activities marking his 60th birthday. Not only that, his wife, Mrs. Olufunsho Amosun’s pet project, UPLIFTMENT also reached out to over 100 aged in the state capital by giving out food stuff worth thousands of naira each to celebrate the governor’s birthday. One thing that was missing from the birthday party was the usual darkness in Abeokuta metropolis. The residents in the state capital lampooned the governor for not extending his olive branch to the people by ensuring adequate power supply throughout the weeklong celebration.
